Sitting around fire, having a drink, sharing stories and gazing at the stars on a summer night is probably an experience that is a part of all our lives. It often leaves us with memories that we cherish for a lifetime. And with spring once again kick-starting your outdoor life, now is indeed the perfect time to give your deck or patio a brand new fire pit. And no, you need not go out and get one as we have just the DIY for you.
Crafting a stylish, concrete fire pit is far easier than you think and the results will pleasantly surprise you. While it takes a tad bit of effort and some care, almost anyone can pull this off with ease and you will soon be tempted to add a few more of these sleek, contemporary concrete fire pits to your pool deck.
Here’s What You Need:
- Concrete Mix
- One extra-large bowl for exterior mold (Around 17” in diameter)
- A smaller bowl for the Interior mold (Around 15” in diameter)
- Non-Stick Cooking Spray
- Safety Mask and Goggles
- Masonry Towel, Work Gloves and reusable drop cloth
- Large Bucket for Mixing
- Sandpaper
- Gel fireplace fuel canisters
- Replacement grill grate
- Decorative Stones
Once you have all the things in place, its time to get started by using the twin bowls as molds to create the concrete fire pit. Make sure you have enough concrete to pour in beforehand and use some weights to hold the top mold down.
Let the concrete set (for a couple of days or so), before removing the molds to reveal the lovely fire pit. From here on, use the fuel canisters to start a fire when needed and place the grill grate and the fire resistant stones above it to finish the look.
