Cute Face Painting Designs for Your Kids This Summer

One of the greatest parts of summer is going to outdoor fairs, markets, and exhibitions. If you’ve ever been, then you’ve probably seen face painting stations and kids running around with the eyes and cheeks decorated in bright colours. If you’re a DIY enthusiast, you’ve probably also thought about how you could totally do that for your own kids at home!

This summer, give your kids the coolest summer birthday party by grabbing your skin-friendly face paints and trying out one of these easy but impressive designs!

1. Sparkly rainbows

What’s more bright and summery than a rainbow? We can’t think of very many things! Curve a rainbow around one eye and add some fluffy white clouds or little white sparkles for maximum whimsical effect.

2. Glitter butterfly

Butterflies are a fairly easy design to paint, especially if you only create one wing as though the butterfly is perching. As the paint dries, try carefully dotting a bit of glitter around the wing to make the look extra magical. Just be careful using glitter in the eyes!

3. Simple side butterfly

If a butterfly like the previous one that has a second wing peeking out and curves around the eye is a little too advanced for your level of painting skill, try this simpler version just in the corner of one eye.

4. Little pirate

Little boys love face paint too! For kids who aren’t interest in rainbows, butterflies, and glitter, try something a little tougher looking, like this scarred and eye-patched pirate!

5. Puppy dog

Some of our very favourite designs are animals, and kids will love looking like their favourite pet for a day! Try painting a little tongue like in this design to make it look like a panting puppy.

6. Ninja turtle

There’s nothing like a little bit of cartoon fun when you’re playing dress up! Kids will love pretending they’re animal super heroes if you paint them like the Ninja Turtles.

7. Little fishies

These little cartoon fishes are an absolutely adorable design for little kids. Make them any colour your child wants and try adding a few bubbles, as though the fish are really swimming around in the water.

8. Cartoon clown

Clowns are a popular face painting design, but this cartoon idea is a little more unique and kitschy. Instead of just painting regular clown makeup on, this design is exaggerated and outline with black to look like an actual drawing or cartoon of a clown.

9. Little skull

This design might fit better around Halloween than in the summer, but you never know what kids will ask for! Some skull designs are very complicated and realistic, but you can keep it simple for you to paint and still kid appropriate by add just a few crack details and some “teeth” on the lips.

10. Hello kitty

We’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like Hello Kitty! This adorable design keeps things to simple shapes and colours but still looks adorable with the little bow on the cat ears.

11. Bunny rabbit

Bunny rabbits are adorable any time of year, not just at Easter! We love how painting some bunny teeth on your kid’s bottom lip will look like they’re really there when your child closes their mouth.
